Just talking to leads at the convention is not enough to turn them into customers, especially since they probably stopped by your competitor’s trade show displays and talked to them also. What will set you apart from other exhibitors is following up after the trade show is over. Once study revealed that 80 percent of exhibitors do not follow up with leads after events, resulting in fewer sales than you could have gotten if they were to take this final step. So, what are some ways you can effortlessly contact with these potential new customers after the show? Smash Hit Displays, a leading online supplier of portable displays for trade shows, offers the following tips.
1. Don’t Forget the Lead Forms
With today’s technology, most people are opting to use electronical lead forms to hold all of the information on a laptop, iPad, or smart phone. As helpful as these gadgets are, having a stack of paper lead forms at your trade show booth is equally as important. These forms should contain the contact information for the lead (phone number, address, email address, etc), as well as their job title and name of the company. Also, having a list of qualifying questions will be able to help you weed out the good leads from the bad ones.
2. Use Rating Systems
A simple rating system will tell you right away which leads are very interested and should be contacted first just by looking at the form. One example of a rating system is to use “a, b, or c” at the top of the lead form, “a” being a hot lead.
3. Don’t Let Too Much Time Pass
Following up too late could cause leads to completely forget the conversation they had with you at the show displays, and may give your competitors a chance to contact them before you. Yet, following up too soon after the convention could make them feel pressured to buy from you. Wait no longer than a week after the trade show to contact them.
Following up with leads you retrieved from your trade show exhibit can not only give you a chance to thank them after the show, but will also allow them to ask any further questions they have about your products or services.
